Because of You... American Idol Night

Because of You...

I was hoping to post my cards last night but absolutely could not miss a minute of the American Idol premier. I have never laughed so hard... Simon's facial expressions last night were absolutely priceless. I about fell out of my chair in laughter when the Lion from the Wizard of Oz auditioned... I thought Simon was going to lose it all together. Anyone else a fan of the show? If so, be sure to post and mention your favorite singer from last season.

I stamped 2 cards using the Because of You stamp set last night during the commercial breaks. When I think of this stamp set I always think of Kelly Clarkson and then I end up with that song in my head lol.
Card Details- Cardstock: Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Apricot Appeal, Whisper White, Certainly Celery and Sarah Designer Series Paper.
Ink: Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery,Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal
Other: Apricot Grosgrain Ribbon, White Narrow Organdy Ribbon, Silver Cording.

This card has some faux paper piercing along the Apricot strip. The background was stamped from the Because of You set in bashful blue ink, then the centers of the flowers were colored in with a white gel pen. The main flower images were outlined first with Stampin Write markers using the fine tip and then water colored in with an aqua painter using the same color of ink and the puddle method. The centers of the flowers were colored on a scrap piece of paper, cut out and popped up in the centers for a little extra detail. The happier because of you tag was outlined with bashful blue ink. The tag was created using the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle hole punches from Stampin Up!

Happier Because of You

The second card was created using a similar supply list from above with the addition of the bashful blue brads. These were used on the Apricot Word Window tabs on the side of the card. There is a 1/4" brad mat in certainly celery under each of them. I got this idea from the patterns in the paper used for this card. I drew hash lines around each of the brads just as it is done in the designer paper. This same effect is also done on the right hand side of the main focal image.

There is a half ribbon under the main image (I have never done this before) but it seemed to pull everything together. The images and tag were created just as the first one. This card was inspired using this last week's Card Sketch challenge from SplitCoastStampers. You can find more information about sketch challenge 106 by clicking here.

What do you think? Be sure to post your comments, I take the time to read each and everyone one of them and love hearing from you! Be sure to check back later today, I am hoping to play with the new sketch challenge#107.

Kyla - Love, LOVE your BofU cards. This set has been on and off my wish list several times (I really don't need another flower set), but I love what you did with it; the color combos, the brad details, the ribbons! TFS.

Love the cards this week and I too was glued to AI last night - and yes, the lion singer...get this, she is my co-worker's niece! I about died when I heard her doing the lion voice! My co-worker can sing, but sadly her niece can't! LOL! ~Linda

I love American Idol too!! I only got to watch parts of it last night, though, as it comes on during bedtime & I'm busy with my kids. As much as I love it, this goes on all season ---brush one kid's teeth --run downstairs to hear someone sing. Read a story --run downstairs to hear someone sing. LOL --easier just to tape it!!

Last season I LOVED Chris, & was so sad the night he was booted. I think all of America was shocked!! I did hear a wonderful singer last night --don't remember her name but she sang "Over the Rainbow" just beautifully!!! Hope she goes far!!

Oh, and of course your cards are gorgeous!!! Can't see what you come up with for the SC!!

Have a great day!!

I saw the Lion impersonator and all day on our Country Radio Station, they kept playing the audio of her. She really was good if she did a play of the Wizard of Oz, but it was fun to get a good belly laugh. Can't believe the people are sincere on those auditions. Oh, and your cards are beautiful!!! I have to agree, there were some pretty funny moments on the opening show but I nearly lost when she worked that little roar into another song in one of the collage moments! These cards are both so pretty!

Hey Kyla,
Beautiful cards as always!! The funny thing is...I had to look this set up when I first saw yourcards with it because I couldn't figure out where it was from. It never caught my attention in the IB&C, but seeing your samples, I LOVE it!! Thanks a LOT! :-) LOL

I just found your blog and it is awesome! The AI challenge is great! I, too, watch every week and have found this season to be the funniest ever. However, who can forget Keith's "Like a Virgin" from a couple of years ago? The best worst audition ever! Anyway, your cards are beautiful and I'm already pulling out my stuff to play.
Thanks!
Sarah
PS- Last season... Chris Daughtrey, hands down. Have his new CD in my car right now. It's amazing!
